This summer, Allen Temple is undertaking an important facilities investment — the replacement of our Sanctuary roof. For approximately six weeks, all worship experiences will be held in the Family Life Center Gym while construction is underway. Here's what you need to know:
- June 8–13: Family Life Center Gym setup for worship
- June 14–July 26: Worship held in the Family Life Center Gym (Active Construction Period)
- July 27–August 1: Move back to the Sanctuary; reset for worship
- Sunday, August 2: Return to Sanctuary for Worship

We are proud to share that our Senior Pastor, Dr. Jacqueline Thompson, has co-authored a timely and thoughtful op-ed in The Root titled “Our Ancestors Fought With Love — Now It’s Our Turn.”
The article reflects on a defining truth in the Black Church tradition: love has never meant silence. The love of our ancestors was courageous, disciplined, and public. It confronted injustice without surrendering to hatred. We encourage you to take a few moments to read the full piece here.
The article also introduces Love Free, a national movement rooted in faith and moral courage. Love Free is calling people of conscience to affirm that love and liberation still belong together — and to commit to practicing that love in tangible ways. You can learn more about Love Free and sign the pledge here.
As we look toward 2026 and all that God has in store, we invite you to join the Prayer Warriors Ministry for our annual Prayer Consecration for the Allen Temple Baptist Church Family beginning January 1.
This year’s theme is “31 Days of Prayer: The ACTS of Prayer”—a focused journey through the ACTS prayer model: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Each day, we will reflect on a scripture tied to one of these pillars as we strengthen our individual and collective prayer life.
To enhance our time of consecration will also feature daily devotional reflections on the ACTS model written by Allen Temple members, offering wisdom and inspiration from within our own church family.
