As people Living Triumphantly Through Christ, we have access to the throne room of God (Hebrews 4:16). For the next six weeks, we're inviting the ATBC family to set aside focused daily prayer — for our church, our families, our community, and our nation.
How It Works: Download the Prayer Calendar below. Use the daily topics and scripture references as your starting point, and let the ACTS model guide your time:
-
-
-
- Adoration — Worship God for who He is (Psalm 96:3-5)
- Confession — Agree with God about where we've fallen short (Psalm 51:4)
- Thanksgiving — Express gratitude for what He's already done (Psalm 100:4)
- Supplication — Bring your present concerns before the Lord (Psalm 141:1-2)
-
-
📅 Save the Date: Join us in person for All Church Prayer — Saturday, May 30, 2026

Joy Unspeakable (2017) by Barbara Holmes

The Athletic Ministry encourages every Allen Temple member and their loved ones, regardless of age, to participate in Water Safety Month by attending a local Water Safety Day event. This initiative highlights the importance of water safety, particularly within our community. According to the CDC, drowning rates for Black individuals under 30 are 1.5 times higher than average. The risk increases significantly for Black children: those aged 5-9 face drowning rates 2.6 times higher, and those aged 10-14 experience rates 3.6 times higher. In public pools, this disparity rises to an alarming 7.6 times higher.
Learning to swim is a crucial life skill that can literally mean the difference between life and death. Watching swimming on television is not enough; proper lessons are necessary. We urge everyone to seek out infant, youth, teen, and adult swim lessons at your local city pool, YMCA, or swim school. Many facilities offer scholarships for those in need.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
The Nursery Ministry supports parents and guardians by providing a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children ages 6 months through 5 years while families participate in worship, Sunday School, and church events.
Through compassionate care and Christ-centered service, the Nursery Ministry seeks to:
-
Provide attentive, safe, and loving care for every child
-
Support families so they may fully engage in worship and spiritual growth
-
Help introduce children to the love of God in age-appropriate ways
-
Extend hospitality and care that reflects the heart of Christ
We are proud to share that our Senior Pastor, Dr. Jacqueline Thompson, has co-authored a timely and thoughtful op-ed in The Root titled “Our Ancestors Fought With Love — Now It’s Our Turn.”
The article reflects on a defining truth in the Black Church tradition: love has never meant silence. The love of our ancestors was courageous, disciplined, and public. It confronted injustice without surrendering to hatred. We encourage you to take a few moments to read the full piece here.
The article also introduces Love Free, a national movement rooted in faith and moral courage. Love Free is calling people of conscience to affirm that love and liberation still belong together — and to commit to practicing that love in tangible ways. You can learn more about Love Free and sign the pledge here.
As we look toward 2026 and all that God has in store, we invite you to join the Prayer Warriors Ministry for our annual Prayer Consecration for the Allen Temple Baptist Church Family beginning January 1.
This year’s theme is “31 Days of Prayer: The ACTS of Prayer”—a focused journey through the ACTS prayer model: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. Each day, we will reflect on a scripture tied to one of these pillars as we strengthen our individual and collective prayer life.
To enhance our time of consecration will also feature daily devotional reflections on the ACTS model written by Allen Temple members, offering wisdom and inspiration from within our own church family.
